Zim Music Sensation, SHA SHA Gets Nominated For BET 2020 Awards

Music songbird Sha Sha has carved her name in the annals of history by becoming the 1st Zimbabwean to be nominated for BET Awards.

Sha Sha a South African based musician, has been nominated for BET’s Viewer’s Choice: New International Act together with Nigeria’s Rema, Celeste, Young T & Bugsey both from the United Kingdom and Hatik and Stacy both from France.

Popularly know in her SA base as the Queen of Amapiano, Sha Sha at the young age of 25 years becomes the first Zimbabwean to be considered for such a prestigious international award and if she wins she will join the likes of Sjava, Sho Majozi and Wizkid to be the only Africans to win the award.

Sha Sha was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in Dangamvuva a suburb located in Mutare and also spent some time in Bulawayo when her parents separated and it was in Bulawayo where she picked up her isiZulu proficiency. Her real name is Charmaine Mapimbiro.

Sha Sha’s big break was when she featured on Akulaleki by Samthing Soweto, Nge Thanda Wena by Mlindo The Vocalist, and Scorpion Kings’ song We Mama.

Her management team expressed excitment and bliss at the once in a lifetime nomination saying:

‘we’re lost for words, this is an opening for Zimbabwean Art and Content to the world!’
