Cricket legend and former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi revealed he has tested positive for coronavirus after ‘…feeling unwell since Thursday’
Afridi confirmed his condition on his microblog Twitter on Saturday indicating he had been ill for a couple of days:
“I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah” he said
The former Pakistani cricket captain who is 40 years of age was famous for his explosive and entertaining batting style which earned him the nickname ‘Boom Boom’, hitting 351 One International 6s and 730 boundaries in a career spanning over 2 decades.
In his latest tweet Shahid Afridi has thanked the overwhwlming support and prayers he has received so far in his fight to recover fromCovid-19:
‘A quick message to thank everybody who’s been praying for my recovery and for the heartfelt messages I’ve been receiving; thank you so much. Please stay safe & continue to look out for those who need help during these testing times. Lots of love for you all’
Afridi is the third Pakistan cricketer to test positive for the virus following Taufeeq Umar and Zafar Sarfaraz.
Latest statistics show that Pakistan has more than more than 132,000 confirmed cases with 2,551 deaths.
